**_Roles & Responsibilities:_**

+ Processes and oversees all contaminated instruments, returned to Sterile Processing.

+ Uses knowledge of tray assembly and sterilization principles to correctly prepare items for sterilization.

+ Properly loads, operates and cleans steam sterilizer and sterrad system and all general equipment, using biological and chemical control tests as required by the department and Joint Commission standards.

+ Maintains appropriate sterilization testing on a routine basis and documents results as required.

+ Works closely with the Director and Lead Technician and assist with the orientation for new personnel.

**_Requirements:_**

+ Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

+ Experience: Minimum one-year experience as Sterile Processing Technician must have CRCST certification from IAHCSMM and keep it in good standing each year.
