The Utility Maintenance Worker- Streets and Drainage earns a competitive salary of $17.77 - $19.24 /hourly based on qualifications. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for our employees' dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also offer a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, life insurance, disability, access to the city's recreation fitness center, employee assistance program, educational assistance, 11 paid holidays and 2 designated paid holidays, paid vacation, sick leave, and an active wellness program focusing on physical, mental, and financial health.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE UTILITY MAINTENANCE WORKER - STREETS & DRAINAGE
Essential Functions:
* Maintains equipment such as pole saws, rescue saws, chainsaws, hoses and nozzles and hand tools.
* Clean and maintain shop area.
* Maintains rights of way along with public and City owned property by clearing debris and vegetation from both open and closed drainage systems.
* Performs daily inspections of equipment, repairs and maintains equipment, vacuum control systems and CCTV systems.
* Provides open ditch profiles and elevation surveys via surveying equipment
* Available to support other service areas for both open and closed drainage systems on repairs, storm sewer lines and new installs.
* Performs traffic control and flagging when needed, builds traffic control work zones and puts out traffic control devices for traffic safety.
* Completes needed maintenance to keep City right of way compliant with City Ordinance & Codes
Additional Duties:
* Operates medium and heavy equipment; operates hand and gas-powered tools.
* Responds to customer complaint calls, work orders and service requests.
* Performs related work as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Licenses
* Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
* Three months ground/drainage maintenance experience or closely related preferred.
* Valid, Class C driver's license
