Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

Safely moves finished goods and supplies to designated areas ensuring all associated documentation is accurately filled out/scanned and properly submitted.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. FACILITYA Forklift Operator (Level 1), under the direction and supervision of Logistics Management, will be able to:

1. Inspect, receive and warehouse finished goods from in house production, Inter-Plant Transfers, and Vendors.2. Pick and stage orders for shipment to customers.3. Accurately load customer orders on trailers. Ensure the load will remain stable during transit and that the weight is properly distributed within the trailer.4. Inspect, drive and maintain assigned forklift as instructed through training programs.5. Accurately document all activities associated with receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations as instructed through training programs.6. Comply with all safety rules and policies and report unsafe conditions to the Warehouse Supervisor, Inventory Control Supervisor, Logistics Manager, or Plant Safety Representative.7. Complete all assignments as directed by Management.8. Responsible for maintaining housekeeping standards as prescribed.9. Be willing and capable to work a 10-hour shift schedule, which could include weekdays, weekends, days and or night shifts.10. Fulfill other duties as assigned by management.

II. OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS:

1. Must be able to read, write and understand English; being bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.

2. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and Logistic Managers.

3. Follow verbal and written instructions.

III. HEALTH AND SAFETY:

1. Adhere to safety policies and procedures in compliance with company guidelines.

2. Visually inspects warehouse area for tripping hazards, equipment safeguards, employee's safety, and adherence to policies and maintains compliance with housekeeping rules.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Be a H.S. graduate and have previous forklift experience. Be dependable, reliable and mature enough to handle equipment safely and sensibly.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Read, write, understand and communicate in English; ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to do functional math: (i.e. add, subtract, multiply and divide).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Manual dexterity required with exposure to arm, wrist and back fatigue. The employee continuously uses their arms, hands and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip and squeeze. The employee routinely bends and lifts up to 50 pounds and climbs/descends stairs. The employee stands approximately 2 hours and routinely walks the warehouse area to check production and consult with other employees. The employee routinely steps up 1 ½ feet and pulls themselves into the seat of a forklift. Operation of pallet jacks, lifting equipment and driving the forklift are essential to job responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions on this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, palletized product in excess of 1,000 pounds stored in rack and floor locations, and loading/offloading operations of trailers and containers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud. The employee is continuously exposed to temperature variances from extreme heat during the summer to extreme cold during the winter. An essential part of this position is to work in a teamwork environment.
