DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the USP Compliance Pharmacist is responsible for planning, executing and monitoring of all aspects of non-sterile and sterile compounding practices according to USP standards, Joint Commission requirements, The Center for Medicare and Medicaid, Pharmacy Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory agencies. This incumbent will provide clinical and distributive services, team leadership, coordinate staff development, education, and performance improvement initiatives. This pharmacist will be highly involved in directing, mentoring, and coaching staff, residents and students who provide non-sterile and sterile compounding services. Work situations are frequently non-routine, requiring analysis, excellent problem-solving skills, independent judgement, and decision making. Effective communication skills and time management skills are essential. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.) Experience: Three years of experience in IV sterile compounding preparation, preferably in a hospital setting. Thorough in-depth knowledge of USP Chapters 797 and 800. Education and Training: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy. License, Certification # Registration: MAPHARM - Licensed MA Pharmacist Other Requirements: Good interpersonal skills in communication and the ability to multi-task. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision within established policies. Must be capable of supervising the work of supportive personnel.
