Essential Duties
1. Performs specialized laboratory tests and procedures in such areas as histology, cytology, cytogenics, medical technology, and histocompatibility. Records results. Interprets and analyzes results of test and procedures. 2. Tests for and ensures quality control of slides, specimens and cultures. Sets up, operates and maintains laboratory equipment. 3. Oversees and instructs support staff. Serves as a source of information on specialized laboratory techniques and equipment operation. 4. Prepares specimens, tissue, bodily fluid samples, and other matter for analysis and diagnosis using specialized laboratory techniques. 5. Stains and mounts slides, prepares specialized solutions and media; and cultures tissues. 6. Develops and modifies laboratory techniques and procedures. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. May photograph specimens and other matter and develop film. 7. Performs additional functions incidental to laboratory activities.
Required Education and Experience
Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree, or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Position Focus:
Reporting to the manager of Developmental Histology/Tissue Microarray Facility the Clinical Technologist 2 is responsible to make certain all client orders that come into the lab are received, reviewed for specific instructions and comments, and are fulfilled with the highest quality of customer service and histologic/laboratory expertise in support of client scientific projects.
1. Performs specialized techniques in Developmental Histology and Tissue Microarray Facility. Such as cell block preparation, IHC staining and Tissue Microarray construction. 2. Ensures highest quality of complex embedding, slide preparation, and stains of client specimens. 3. Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment, tissue processor, slide printer, slide auto stainers, cover slipper, tissue micro-arrayer, and microscopes. 3. Assists support staff with client orders as needed. Refer to Clinical Tech 3 workflow issues as needed. Follow Clinical Tech 3 direction for ease of workflow. 4.Serves as a source of information on specialized laboratory techniques and equipment operation. 5. Prepares specimens, tissue samples, and other matter for analysis using specialized laboratory techniques, such as Tissue Microarray preparation. 6. Stains and mounts slides, prepares specialized solutions and media for research materials and tissues. 7. May photograph specimens for client review. 8. Performs additional functions incidental to laboratory activities.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Four or more years' experience in Pathology/Histology laboratory. Proven experience in animal tissue embedding and cutting.
