Summary

The Analytical Chemistry Internship is an 8-10 week program that provides learning opportunities and exposure to Sharp Clinical Services' Analytical Laboratory. During this program, the intern will be assigned and responsible for a process improvement project. At the cessation of the program, the intern will be required to provide a presentation of their findings and ideas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Learn and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols for handling chemicals, reagents, and laboratory equipment.
  • Perform routine tasks such as inventory management to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research to stay updated on emerging trends, techniques, and technologies in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in chemistry and laboratory practices.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, presenting findings and recommendations in written reports or oral presentations.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards learning and contributing to the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases for analysis and review as required.
  • May perform routine laboratory tasks such as equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • May assist in laboratory experiments, including sample preparation, chemical analysis, and data interpretation of R&D studies under the guidance of senior chemists.
  • Adhere to policies, processes, and SOPs to ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA and any other regulatory regulations and standards.
  • Adhere to set safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Biology or a similar science.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, work effectively and independently.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Project, and Excel
  • Must possess good communications skills.
