JAX is hiring for a full time RESEARCH ASSISTANT Iin the laboratory of Dr. Patsy Nishina, which primarily focuses on genetic diseases of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium.

Job Summary

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual who can communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team on a full range of molecular biology techniques that include but are not limited to: DNA and RNA isolation, genotyping by standard PCR, designing and optimizing primers for PCR analysis, preparation of sequencing samples, western analysis, and conducting quantitative real time PCR analysis.

The applicant will have the opportunity to learn and perform biochemical, histological, and immunohistochemical techniques as well as analyze high-throughput sequencing data.

The candidate will be expected to assist in ocular phenotyping, specimen collection and mouse colony maintenance. Organizational ability, as well as the ability to keep detailed and accurate records is absolutely necessary.

Qualifications

* BS or BA degree in biological sciences is required.
