JOB TITLE: Registered Behavior Technician
DEPARTMENT: Behavioral Services Department
REPORTS TO: Director of Behavioral Services (BCBA) and Executive Director of Education
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Under the collaborative supervision of the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and Executive Director of Education, a Registered Behavior Technician is a paraprofessional that provides direct care and counseling to individuals with autism, developmental delay or other behavioral challenges. RBTs will be responsible for training and supporting other staff members, implementing behavior plans and providing assistance with functional behavior assessments under the guidance of the BCBA and/or Director of Behavioral Services. RBTs work directly with individuals in various settings, including but not limited to NCIA residential and respite homes, doctor's offices, day program and other community locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Manages and implements TCI training techniques in response to challenging behaviors as outlined in individualized behavior plans.
2.Follows and implements behavior support plans to facilitate consistent implementation and monitor outcomes appropriately as developed by the BCBA and/or Director of Behavioral Services.
3.Models/supports staff to work with YIT students on their daily tasks and with the development of educational, life and social skills.
4.Inputs valid behavior data and accurate clinical documentation into agency database.
5.Communicates progress updates, barriers, etc. on treatment goals to BCBA and/or Director of Behavioral Services as requested.
6.Assists the BCBA with the implementation of behavioral assessments, consultations, and creation of behavior plans as needed
7.Collaborates with other members of their assigned individual's treatment team including but not limited to the attendance of IEP meetings and other related trainings.
8.Possesses a strong understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and techniques.
9.Displays excellent communication and people skills, as well as patience, creativity, and attention to detail.
10.Maintains recertification requirements and Registered Behavior Technician credentials by attending supervision with BCBA.
11.Follows all policies and procedures of NCIA and YIT as outlined.
12.Consults with Behavior Specialist and BCBA for the purposes of Behavior Plan development and review, as well as to provide comprehensive provision of services to individual(s).
13.Communicates openly with YIT staff, Behavior Specialist, BCBA and other professionals.
14.Communicates medical, behavioral, and other concerns related to the individual(s) to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
15.Completes daily progress notes, reports, and other documents as designated.
16. Uses approved crisis intervention techniques in emergency situations when individual(s) are in
danger of injuring themselves or others.
17. Establishes and maintains a professional working relationship with NCIA and YIT staff and individuals.
18. Contributes to a work and home atmosphere that is positive, enthusiastic, responsible, and courteous.
19. Uses technology for the completion of specified job duties.
20. Attends work regularly according to the assigned schedule and in accordance with Agency policy.
21. Adheres to the Code of Ethics for Registered Behavior Technicians.
22. Attends and participates in in-service training, staff meetings, and other activities to facilitate professional development.
23. Acts as a positive role model for individual(s) and NCIA and YIT staff.
24. Performs other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
ØHigh School Diploma and five years related experience and/or training in behavioral health/developmental disabilities field or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years' experience.
ØExperience in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and/or with clients with autism or developmental disabilities
ØAt least one year of clinical experience working in applied settings with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
ØAbility to read and interpret documents and a variety of manuals, such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
ØAbility to write routine reports, documents and correspondence following prescribed formats.
ØAbility to speak effectively and present information to others.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
ØAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
ØAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
ØAbility to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
ØAbility to work with data utilizing defined but different processes.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
ØRegistered Behavior Technician Certification.

ØStrong verbal and written communication, time management, problem-solving and organizational
ØAbility to operate equipment, including using pertinent software applications and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
ØAbility to schedule activities, collate data, and use basic job-related equipment.
ØAbility to work with constant interruptions and maintain a calm and positive demeanor.
ØAbility to interact effectively with diverse populations.
ØAbility to be flexible; communicate with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality; set priorities; work as part of a team.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
ØValid non-provisional driver's license from state of residence and acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and by Agency policy.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
ØWalking significant distances.
ØRunning occasionally.
ØStanding for a significant amount of time, up to two hours occasionally.
ØLifting or pushing 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
ØFrequent reaching, stooping, grasping, balancing, kneeling, and crouching.
ØAbility to stay awake and attentive throughout entire shift.
ØSufficient visual acuity to observe general surroundings and activities of clients.
ØSufficient hearing ability to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels.
ØSafely work in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized protective equipment provided by the agency.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
ØYouth in Transition School
ØBoth indoor and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to weather elements, such as rain, wind, or snow.
ØMay be required to be outside during client crisis management episodes, as well as during periods of specific individual contact.
ØWork environment may include video and/or audio monitoring.
ØModerate noise level.
