Somerville, United States Riverside Community Care, Inc. Full time

We make a difference - in your community and in your career.

Join Riverside Community Care as a Mental Health / Social Work Clinician

The Mental Health/Social Work Clinician will work within Riverside Early Childhood Services for Cambridge and Somerville, which is home to three programs: Early Intervention, Early Intervention Parenting Partnership, and the Early Years Project.

All three programs share our guiding statement:

Riverside Early Childhood Services creates relationships, experiences, and environments which empower and promote positive development. We are committed to clinical excellence, collaboration, and the process of continual learning. We meet all people where they are, recognize and nurture strengths, and attend to challenges. As a staff we value our differences, flexibility, and autonomy, and show up for one another with kindness, support, and direct communication.

The Mental Health/Social Work Clinician participates on two interdisciplinary teams, the Early Intervention Partnership Program (EIPP) and Early Intervention (EI). Both programs serve families in Cambridge and Somerville. Both programs support families with a dyadic relationship-based approach in which we partner with parents. Our work is grounded in deep respect for families. We practice cultural humility as we develop relationships with families, and grow in our understanding of their values, beliefs, priorities, routines, sources of stress, and needs. Collaboratively we identify and address needs, priorities, and goals. Our over-arching goal is to strengthen co-regulation, mutual enjoyment, and the social-emotional well-being of children and their caregivers, while attending to specific challenges, through parent support, coaching and education, and more limited direct work with children.

Early Intervention Partnership Program (EIPP) is one of only four in the state. A DPH program, our mandate is to promote positive health and developmental outcomes for mothers and babies. Our multi-disciplinary team includes a maternal-child health nurse, mental health clinicians, social workers and a Community Health Worker. Services begin in pregnancy and end when the child turns one. The bulk of our work takes place through home visits but also includes community visits (library, parks, food pantries, health clinic, DTA, food pantries, etc.) as well as on-site mom-baby groups. Services are a blend of health and developmental assessments, parenting support, health promotion, psychoeducation, counseling, linkage to community and social support systems, and service coordination. Children who are eligible are referred to our EI program, allowing for continuity of care. Our close-knit team meets every other week for case consults, group reflective supervision and planning.

Early Intervention (EI) provides home-based services to families with children (0-3 years) who have or are at risk for developmental delays or disorders. The Mental Health/Social Work Clinician works alongside other Early Intervention clinicians of different professional disciplines in a trans-disciplinary model of service delivery. The Mental Health/Social Work Clinician completes initial eligibility evaluations with new families. They lead Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings fostering each family's involvement in their child's treatment plan and provide ongoing services implementing all identified strategies on the IFSP. They also conduct eligibility re-evaluations, as well as ongoing functional assessment, fulfill service coordination duties, maintain an individual caseload, and may lead or support group activities.
