- Position Summary
- As prescribed by a physician, the EEG/EMG Technologist is involved in the following diagnostic procedures: electroencephalography (EEG), long term monitoring (LTM), and nerve conduction studies (NCS). Responsibilities include following established standards: operating, troubleshooting and ensuring equipment is performing accurately; preparing electronic and written reports required to document all procedures and results; scheduling; performing other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate optimal patient care.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Work Experience
- Previous experience in Neurodiagnostic procedures which may include EEG, NCS and/or polysomnography (PSG) strongly preferred.
- Education
- Completion of a Respiratory program, CAAHEP accredited or ABRET recognized program, Registered Polysomnographic Technologist Certificate, Associate's degree, (OR) equivalent EEG experience required.
- Certifications/Licensure
- None required.

- Understands and employs the optimal use of various types of Neurodiagnostic equipment.
- Utilizes hospital computer system to access patient information and enter charges accurately. Prepares electronic and written reports required to document all procedures and test reports.
- Maintains assigned areas in a neat and orderly fashion. Participates in processing, cleaning, changing, and sterilization of Neurodiagnostic equipment.
- Calibrates equipment prior to patient testing. Troubleshoots equipment and recognizes neurological abnormalities such as seizure activity during an EEG test or focal slowing, and correlates brain mapping accordingly.
