Position Summary:

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor at a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) plays a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing the nursing staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. The RN Supervisor collaborates with other healthcare professionals, manages daily nursing operations, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. **Clinical Leadership:**

   - Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards of care.

   - Assess and monitor patients' health status, response to treatment, and overall well-being.

   - Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.

 

2. **Staff Coordination:**

   - Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing personnel during assigned shifts.

   - Make staffing assignments based on patient acuity and nursing staff competency.

   - Conduct regular rounds to assess the quality of care and address any issues or concerns promptly.

 

3. **Training and Development:**

   - Participate in the orientation and training of new nursing staff.

   - Provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.

   - Conduct performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback for continuous improvement.

 

4. **Communication:**

   - Facilitate effective communication between shifts and interdisciplinary team members.

   - Communicate changes in patients' conditions to healthcare providers and family members.

   - Act as a liaison between nursing staff and management to address concerns and ensure a positive working environment.

 

5. **Quality Assurance and Compliance:**

   - Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies.

   - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.

   - Conduct regular audits and assessments to maintain high standards of care.

 

6. **Emergency Response:**

   - Act decisively during emergency situations, providing leadership and support to nursing staff.

   - Collaborate with other departments to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.

 

7. **Documentation:**

   - Oversee accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.

   - Review and sign off on nursing notes, care plans, and other relevant documentation.

 

8. **Resource Management:**

   - Manage and allocate resources efficiently, including staff, supplies, and equipment.

   - Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising the quality of patient care.

 

Qualifications:

 

- Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a healthcare setting.

- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to long-term care.
