QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of Level 6 Certification
2. Minimum of Specialist's Degree in school psychology.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
- Administers tests, discusses placements and/or alternative treatment methods for all exceptional and selected new students.
- Helps identify within the school all types of exceptional children.
- Maintains case records on all referred students.
- Recommends corrective procedures.
- Conducts with prior administrative approval, individual, group, or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavior modification.
- Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.
- Attends case conferences on the placement of individual students.
- Serves as a consultant on mental health topics for instructors in the school.
- Interprets school psychological services to teachers and parents.
- Prepares and submits required reports as directed.
- Cooperates with personnel of community health, social welfare agencies, and other appropriate agencies.
- Acts as a liaison between the school and Juvenile Court.
- Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings.
- Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
- Travels as necessary to assigned schools; transports by privately owned vehicle materials needed for student evaluation/diagnosis.
