Overview

This person will provide support for various areas in the front of house, culinary, and baking and pastry aspects of restaurant operations of the School of Business, Arts & Sciences.

Qualifications

Education:

* Must be a Penn College student. (Minimum)
* Must be enrolled in a culinary, baking or pastry related degree program. (Minimum)
* Must maintain 2.0 grade point average. (Minimum)

Experience:

* Experience working in the area of culinary arts. (Desired)

Abilities and Skills:

* Ability and/or flexibility to work in all areas which includes front of house, culinary, and baking/pastry aspects of restaurant operations. (Desired)
* Ability to perform simple tasks following oral instruction. (Minimum)
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
* Ability to work on own initiative. (Minimum)
* Ability to work collaboratively with peers, students, faculty, staff. (Minimum)
* Ability and willingness to carry out responsibilities in a positive and timely manner.

Responsibilities

* Assist the Chefs with the production of food. (Essential)
* Wash pots, pans and food service utensils. (Essential)
* Scrape, stack, wash, and sort dishes in dishwasher. (Essential)
* Clean refrigerators and other equipment as needed. (Marginal)
* Maintain the dishroom and kitchen areas clean and orderly fashion. (Essential)
* Assist the Storeroom Attendant with receiving and storing food and supplies. (Essential)
* Transport heavy pots, equipment, and supplies between storage and kitchen work areas. (Essential)
* Wash, peel, and slice vegetables and fruits as needed. (Marginal)
* Comply with all safety and sanitation procedures in the performance of duties. (Essential)
* Assist Dishroom/Kitchen Helper/Laundry Person with laundering and ironing of linens as needed. (Marginal)

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

Physical Standards:

* Neat and clean grooming and hygiene habits.
* Some heavy lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
* Some exposure to cleaning chemicals and detergents.

Special Job Features:

* Casual part-time as-needed position, not to exceed 18 hours/week.
* Flexible schedule necessary to support restaurant hours and hospitality events.
* This position may be subject to a background check.

Pay Transparency

$10.00 per hour
