PT Staff: Assistant Coach-Cross Country/Track and Field

Do you love coaching and working with college students? If so, we have the job for you Shaw University is looking for an Assistant Cross-Country/Track & Field Coach. Reporting to the Head Cross-Country/Track & Field Coach, the Assistant Coach will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach in developing a competitive NCAA Division II cross-country and track & field program. The individual will be responsible for maintaining NCAA, CIAA and University compliance. The individual will assist in fundraising and committee assignments as assigned. The individual will be responsible for recruitment, retention, and skill training as it relates to developing a successful NCAA Division II Cross-Country/Track & Field program. This is a seasonal position.

Essential Job Functions:

* Assists in developing the physical skills of student athletes in the sport of track & field.
* Critiques and provides feedback on student athletes' strengths and weaknesses as related to athletic ability.
* As applicable, establishes depth charts of athlete's athletic ability on current student athletes and prospective recruits.
* Assists in attracting quality NCAA Division II athletes or better to become members of the cross-country and track and field team.
* Monitors academic progress of student athletes (i.e., study table, progress reports, mid-term grades, and tutorial sessions).
* Monitors nutrition of student athletes.
* All other related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or a related discipline required.
* A minimum of one year cross-country/track & field coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
* Required knowledge of:
* NCAA Rules Compliance (Division II)
* NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse Procedures
* Cross-Country/Track & Field Rules & Regulations
* Cross-Country/Track & Field statistical knowledge
* Film exchange
* Recruiting Rules Compliance
