Are you interested in joining a talented and growing team? UPMC Magee Womens at Carlisle has recently added many enhancements to our department to be able to elevate the care that we are providing to the women and babies of our community, and we are looking for the next talented employee to join our team
Our department is a single unit with three unique specialties. Our nurses are trained to work in at least two of the three specialties in our unit. We pride ourselves in being able to provide evidenced-based, individualized care to all of our patients. Read more about the specialties that we provide below:
* Labor & Delivery - We work with two UPMC owned OB/GYN practices, comprised of Obstetricians and Midwives, dedicated to caring for patients experiencing normal/natural childbirth, as well as complicated high-risk deliveries. The Labor & Delivery Hall houses 6 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 operating room and 2 PACU bays located within the unit. Previous postpartum or labor & delivery experience is preferred, however, other candidates will be considered.
* Postpartum - The postpartum hall houses 16 spacious rooms and a procedural nursery, allowing us to provide services and care to well mother-baby couplets, along with mothers with high-risk postpartum conditions. Surgical patients who have undergone C-section delivery or have had hysterectomies or breast surgeries are also cared for here. Care provided in this part of our unit provides staff with the extremely rewarding opportunity to impact and educate new families as well as occasionally work through adoption and surrogate scenarios.
* Level II NICU - We are proud to offer a 6-bed NICU for the care of our smallest patients and those who need extra help transitioning at birth. We provide care to infants born at 32 weeks gestational age or greater needing additional respiratory or nutritional support after birth. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners staff in house 24 hours per day, however we connect with our colleagues at higher acuity institutions within the system by utilizing Telemedicine technology to ensure that each patient receives the best possible care. Previous NICU experience is preferred, however, other candidates will be considered.
What can you expect as a Staff Nurse in our department?
The Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients' families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
As a Staff Nurse and a member of the delivery care team, you have the opportunity to practice in an institution who values shared-governance and help develop the standards for the level and quality of nursing care provided and its provisions. At all times, you will be expected to exemplify a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
The Staff Nurse is a valued step in the UPMC nursing career ladder, with opportunities for continued growth and advancement. Salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience.
