  • Patient Care:

    • Assist in the assessment and monitoring of patient conditions, including vital signs, pain levels, and symptoms.
    • Administer prescribed medications, dress wounds, and provide other treatments as directed by a physician or RN.
    • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding when needed.
    • Monitor patient progress, noting changes in condition, and report findings to the supervising RN or physician.

  • Patient Education:

    • Educate patients and their families on basic health care needs, medication management, and post-discharge instructions.
    • Offer guidance on managing chronic conditions or following specific treatment protocols.

  • Medication Administration:

    • Administer oral, intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications according to prescribed dosages and schedules.
    • Monitor patients for side effects or reactions to medications and report any concerns to the nursing team.

  • Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and timely records of patient care, including vital signs, assessments, medications administered, and treatments.
    • Document any changes in patient status or concerns, ensuring all medical records are up-to-date.

  • Patient Monitoring:

    • Observe and record patient symptoms and conditions, ensuring timely intervention as required.
    • Assist with diagnostic tests and prepare patients for procedures.
    • Assist with managing wounds, applying bandages, and helping patients with mobility.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
    • Report significant changes in a patient s condition or behavior to the appropriate healthcare team members.

  • Infection Control:

    • Follow infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
    • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following sanitation and hygiene procedures.

  • Supportive Care:

    • Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and their families during illness or recovery.
    • Respond to patient needs promptly, offering assistance with pain management and comfort measures.
Qualifications:

  • Education and Licensing:

    • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
    • Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.

  • Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
    • Additional certifications may be required based on the healthcare facility, such as IV therapy or wound care certification.

  • Experience:

    • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital, nursing home, or clinic, is preferred.
    • Experience in long-term care, pediatrics, or geriatric nursing may be beneficial depending on the position.
