The Central Scheduling Clerk is responsible for coordinating all patient access to outpatient surgery, outpatient diagnostic services, and direct inpatient admissions. Schedules patient appointments, contacts patients to obtain and verify general and financial demographics, verifies insurances and obtains treatment authorizations timely. Communicates with patients, physician offices, insurance companies, attorneys, and GRMC departments to secure financial reimbursement, promote excellent customer satisfaction, and ensure patients are timely and prepared for the appointments.

Education REQUIRED: High School Diploma/GED but prefers some college background.

Experience REQUIRED: Three years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment with demonstrated customer service skills. Knowledge of insurance regulations and demonstrated success with medical collections. Knowledge of medical terminology. Direct Admitting, Billing, or Collections experience is preferred. Must be proficient with medical software and Microsoft office products including excel. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
