We are seeking a remote-based Healthcare Interoperability Software Engineer tolead software modernization and integration efforts with several different healthcare information systems. You will leverage your expertise inexistinghealthcare protocols and standards, alongwith your desire to make healthcare more efficient, to drive key interoperability initiatives for our distributed fleet of gateways.

You will report to Alara's CTO and work closely with our engineering team.

Responsibilities
    • Drive interoperability and integration projects between the Alara Healthcare Gateway and different healthcare information systems (PACS, RIS, EHR, Billing, etc.)
    • Work closely with the data engineering team to develop, test, and deploy integration solutions using that exchange data in DICOM, HL7v2, FHIR, CCDA, XML, JSON, RESTful APIs, as well as flat files.
    • Develop transformation and routing steps of the data pipeline in Python / Javascript.
    • Be the technical point of contact for interoperability during client onboarding.
    • Facilitate and lead detailed interface mapping discussions with clients and technology partners
    • Research new methods of integration;keeptrack of private and public initiatives around healthcare data interoperability, drives the implementation of each new solution.

Requirements
    • Extensive experience (5+ years) in major EHR platform system integrations, working with healthcare data standards such as FHIR, HL7 v2, CDA, ANSI X12 and mapping healthcare data across multiple formats. FHIR experience is a must.
    • Extensive experience (5+ years)in PACS integrations and DICOM troubleshooting, with a robust understanding of DICOM standards and familiarity with DICOM servers and toolkits, medical imaging system components (PACS, VNA, RIS), and associated workflows
    • Experience working with RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and understanding of Web Service API's
    • Working knowledge of Health Information Exchange platforms such as Corepoint, InterSystems, Mirth Connect, or Rhapsody.
    • Strong SQL programming skills and experience.
    • Proven leadership in detailed interoperability implementation discussions with clients and data mapping exercises; Specific experience in mapping clinical data from source systems to the FHIR data model is highly desired
    • Understanding of the Agile software development cyclemethodology, such as GIt for version control, and familiarity with common tooling such as Jira and Confluence
