Role Overview

Genus PLC has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Senior Research Technician within the R&D Biosystems Engineering Team to perform daily tasks as defined by team needs. The position is located in our Windsor office. The successful candidate will be able to independently perform experimental test designs, analyze and communicate data, and contribute to continuous process improvement and ideation within Research & Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Confidently execute Standard Operating Procedures and/or experimental test designs independently and analyze data to support research objectives.
* Communicate data findings within the context of requested testing to the relevant stakeholders.
* Demonstrate ownership of test plans and contribute to innovation or new ideation based on laboratory experience.
* Pro-actively provide feedback to team members and experimental owners on observations made or challenges encountered during and after testing.
* Effectively identify issues/risks and communicate the need to solve problems, offering suggestions based on experience. Learn from failures and overcome set-backs.
* Take active steps to generate accurate and well-organized documentation for laboratory processes and collaborate cross-functionally to support the accomplishment of team goals.
* Support training or mentoring of junior research lab technicians. Demonstrate understanding of laboratory processes and ability to communicate that when cross-training.
* Promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Have an understanding of laboratory safety and chemical hazards that may be encountered in the workplace.
* Demonstrate flexibility if and when lab priorities change.
* Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.
* Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
* Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: (required)

* Must possess a valid driver's license.
* Must be comfortable with general lab processes and techniques (eg. Pipetting, centrifugation, etc.).
* Strong attention to detail and focus on maintaining the highest level of quality at all times.
* Ability to organize data and perform basic statistics.
* Ability to utilize a computer, keyboard and mouse to accomplish work tasks (includes but is not limited to the ability to look at computer monitor screens for the entirety of assigned shift).
* Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time with diligence and attention to detail.
* Ability to work well within a team environment. Independently manage weekly activities and pro-actively resolve resourcing conflicts.
* Ability to maintain professional verbal and written communications with co-workers, internal and external customers, and vendors at all times.
* Experience in a laboratory environment.
* Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in a science field (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Animal Sciences, Genetics, Molecular Biology) with 1-2 years experience.
* OR an Associates degree with 3-4 years of relevant experience preferably in a commercial or directly applicable academic environment.
