Student worker will assist employees in the FYE at the Counseling Department.

 

Student workers are responsible for assisting the Umoja office of First Year Experience staff in the successful management and implementation of the student engagement experience including other programs and services.

 

Students will be cross trained to work in several of these areas and provide assistance with general office duties to include the following areas: information desk, technical/operation, services, event logistics, clerical, diversity and inclusion.

 

Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population and some knowledge of the Umoja program.

 

Due to the nature of the campus activities some early morning, evening, and weekend availability may be required.

ALL STUDENT EMPLOYEES MAY BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND MONTHLY MANDATORY TRAININGS.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

* Welcome students and guests.
* Providing general information
* Overall Umoja room coverage
* Mail pick-up/delivery.
* Assisting in typing, filing, photocopying, and answering phone calls
* Assisting with light cleaning 
* Assisting faculty, staff, and students with paperwork
* Provide program-related general support and assistance with campus events.
* Assisting in other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

* Student must possess a Federal Work-Study award letter for the 2023/2024 academic year
* Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units fall and spring semester; 3 units summer
* Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) 
* Student must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA 
* Student must have a current TB
* Ability to follow directions in order to carry out the duties as assigned.
* Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all confidential information disclosed.

Student cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.

* Punctual and reliable
* Flexible work schedule
* Ability to pay attention to detail, and follow directions carefully
* Must have the desire to learn and exercise office skills and procedures with minimal supervision
