Position Specific Performance Expectations:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology.
  • Responsible for suggesting changes in procedures, policies and quality improvement, as well as coordinates training and development in breast imaging specialties.
  • Adheres to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section.
  • To maintain appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day up keep of the structured reporting system in order to run all needed audit reports, statistics, and problem solving lists.
  • Will oversee the daily QA needed and any preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of imaging procedures of at least two of the modalities listed below.
  • Practices radiation safety, adhering to ALARA standards.
  • Asks female patients if they are pregnant and protects them from harmful radiation.
  • Performs QC in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Able to operate equipment consistent with manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
  • Assists with clerical duties and patient transportation when required.
  • Answers the telephone, directs calls, and accurately records messages as needed.
  • Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
  • Completes equipment downtime form and immediately notifies manager of equipment issues.
  • Flexible in rearranging work schedule to help fill in for emergencies, illnesses, and vacations.
  • Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Notifies Radiologist of all STAT or Emergent cases and provides ordering physician contact information.
  • Obtains appropriate informed consents when required.
  • Performs and documents medical history as it relates to the patient and the procedure.
  • Positive and supportive team member to all staff members of the hospital.
  • Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
  • Submits all written orders, registration documents, and required imaging forms to Health Information Management and the Radiologist.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls service engineer if the malfunction needs outside maintenance.
  • Verifies exam orders, identifies patient thru two means of identification, and provides exam education.
  • Verifies that all relevant paperwork is completed and prior studies are available before submitting procedures to the Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Works overtime as directed and takes call as required.
  • May be required to obtain additional training or certification in order to meet the needs of the department.
  • Assists or rotates to other imaging modalities when required and within the scope of held licensure and/or registry.
  • Assists with taking call, working holidays, and weekends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Strives to uphold regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to ensure a safe environment for patients, public, and staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions).
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete employee health meeting.

Required Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Must have two (2) of the following registries: ARRT registration in Radiology (R), Mammography (M), Sonography (S), ARDMS registration in Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) (or eligible for and obtain within one (1) year of hire date).
  • Current BLS certification (or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.)

Experience:

  • Three (3) years prior relevant experience in clinical area, preferred.
  • One (1) year of clinical leadership experience, preferred
  • Technologist will be encouraged to cross-train to into other modalities including, but not limited to CT, MRI, DEXA, and Mammography.
  • Ability to learn and work with all electronic records including PACS and RIS/HIS.

Position Classification: Non-exempt

Compensation Range: $28.52 to $42.78
