A staff accountant maintains a companys financial records. Some perform general accounting tasks, while others specialize in taxation or auditing. Staff accountants typically perform general accounting duties, including monitoring compliance with laws and standards, reconciling bank statements, and balancing ledgers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

* Assist with month end close deliverables to include; preparing journal entries, maintaining supporting documentation, preparing reconciliations, and completing variance analyses.
* Adhere to all deadlines and respond to communications in a professional and timely manner.
* Support various grant compliance, recognition, and reporting.
* Oversee the purchasing process for purchase requestions, purchase orders. Review backup and coordinate necessary.
* approvals
* Support the Accounts Receivable process on as needed basis to include billing, cash application, and collections.
* Assist with treasury functions to include lockbox management, creation of journal entries, and reconciliations.
* Execute daily AP operations and processes timely and accurately.
* Build solid relationships across all affiliates and vendors at various accounting levels
* Maintain Balance Sheet reconciliations with ability to identify and correct variances across all affiliates.
* Ability to rectify inaccuracies with deductive reasoning, strategic questioning.
* Work independently and seek support from peers and managers.
* Use personal judgment and discretion daily.
* Work in a multi-company environment.
* Clarify any questionable invoices items, pries, terms, or signatures.
* Provide documentation for audits.
* Maintain historical data/records
* Maintain confidentiality of organization information
* Ability to make sound financial decisions while exercising discretion and independent judgment surrounding AP

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field
* Knowledge of Account Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger, record keeping, and non-profit funding streams
* Grant/contract management experience
