Summary:

Performs prescribed procedures of the sleep laboratory under the direction of a physician in accordance with established policies, practices and standards.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy Must possess valid New York State Respiratory Therapist, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.If Non-Registered, Sleep Technologist by the ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC Must be enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years of hire. Be NYSED Authorized Polysomnographic Technologist BLS/CPR certification required within three months of hire. -OR- Be registered in Sleep Technology or accepted to sit for the registry examination through one of the following organizations:American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist - Sleep Disorder Specialist (RRT-SDS) Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) EXPERIENCEThree (3) years of previous sleep clinical experience with RPSGT preferred, however new graduates with a Respiratory Therapist license will be considered.Orientation and training to the essential functions of the position is expected to be completed during the introduction period.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITYMust possess good interpersonal and communication skills.Must possess the ability to assess/interpret patient data and draw appropriate conclusions. WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasional exposure to infectious diseases/blood and body fluids.May require variable work schedules including overnight shifts
