Staff Accountant

Community Savings is seeking a dedicated and detail oriented Staff Accountant to join our financial team. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month end close and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-pace environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

* Performing basic accounting procedures, e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments and inventory control
* Performing all basic accounting procedures, month end closing, journal entries and general ledger maintenance, fixed assets preparing supporting schedules for financial statements preparation
* Preparing financial statements, e.g. monthly and quarterly financial reports, weekly forecasts to Management Team summarizing current and projected financial position
* Month end and quarterly closing (e.g. balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements)
* Monitoring and reviewing all record of assets, liabilities, and other financial transitions
* Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management
* Producing financial data for management team upon request and assisting with other special Accounting projects from time to time
* Performing analysis of operations on a monthly basis
* Ensures accurate portfolio administration by maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all financial transactions (payments, etc.) are recorded on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred
* 3+ years progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
* Prior experience in banking industry is a plus.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices and regulations
* Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
* Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with accounting software
* Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
