Job Summary:

In this role, you will work closely with individuals and their families, providing essential support and interventions built on a unique, empathetic connection. You will assist in developing treatment plans, facilitating group education, and connecting clients with community resources. Your shared lived experience will inspire and empower those on their journey to recovery, helping them recognize their resilience and capacity for positive change.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in developing treatment plans and facilitating group education sessions
* Provide crisis intervention and make referrals for issues outside the treatment milieu
* Represent the agency professionally and connect clients with community resources
* Document all services provided in accordance with state/CARF standards
* Share lived experiences of recovery and model successful recovery behaviors
* Help individuals recognize their resilience and capacity for recovery
* Assist individuals in setting and achieving their recovery goals
* Other duties as assigned by the Program Director

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

* Self-identify as a present or former client of mental health or substance use services OR self-identify as a person in recovery from mental health or substance use disorder
* Be at least 21 years of age
* Have a high school diploma or equivalent
* Pass a background check or request an exception if applicable
* Complete a state-approved training program and, if required, pass a standardized examination
* Missouri residents must complete the application on the Missouri Peer Specialist website and, if necessary, a 5-Day Basic Training Program, followed by passing a state-approved certification exam within six months

Additional Qualifications:

* Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect
* Proficient at sharing lived experiences while maintaining healthy boundaries
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to connect clients with recovery resources in their communities
* First Aid and CPR certification within three months of beginning employment and upon renewal
