Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the END Educator and qualified END technologists learns fundamentals of EEG Technology. The Electroneurodiagnostic Associate will learn to perform high quality electroencephalograms (EEGs), and long-term monitoring for epilepsy. Additionally, the Electroneurodiagnostic Associate will assist staff in starting, maintaining quality recording, and completing EEG studies in all Neurodiagnostic areas. The Electroneurodiagnostic program training is consistent with the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic technologist (ASET) competencies, American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACSN), and American Board of Registered Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET) guidelines.

Responsibilities

Responsibility A:Classroom and Lab training• Performs required course work as instructed• Completes assignments in a timely manner• Meets attendance requirements• Maintains academic requirementsResponsibility B: Evaluates the patient in collaboration with END tech• Determines the patients mental state and comprehension level• Ascertains the patients capacity to cooperate throughout the procedure• Observes and assists END tech with patient interactions during testing• Accommodates for disabilities and special needs of patientsResponsibility C: Develops skills in patient documentation in collaboration with END tech• Patient information (name, DOB, MR number, referring physician)• Pertinent patient history and familial medical history• Current medications and time of last dosage• Specify patients mental, behavioral, and conscious state• Documents appropriately in electronic medical record and recording systemsResponsibility D: Develops skills to perform a standard EEG and maintain recording excellence in collaboration with END tech• Apply 10/20 head measurement and electrode application skills accurately.• Perform routine EEG and recording maintenance in accordance with ACNS guidelines and ASET competencies.• Proficient data entry into electronic medical records and EEG recordings.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills• Some knowledge of medical terminology, familiarity with computers, strong science and math skills, and customer service concepts. • A strong science and math background• Maintains CPR certification• A strong desire to be a healthcare professional• Strong critical thinking skills• Good manual dexterity and hand eye coordination• Ability to deal with visual, electrical, and computer concepts• Resourceful, compassionate and sensitive individual • Communication and interpersonal skills
