We have 27 outpatient locations and expanding with several developing programs throughout Central Florida

Operating Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

(weekend shifts and OT opportunities available for volunteers)

No call, nights, or holidays

Cross training opportunities are available for single modality sonographers

This poaition provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

* Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance.
* Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.
* Leads others in complex problem solving.
* Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify innovative solutions.
* Works independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
* Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
* Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information.
* Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams, and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager.
* Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
* Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
* Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
* Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
* Assesses the patient's physical condition and age specific needs.
* Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
* Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
* Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
* Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
* Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
* Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
* Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
* Utilizes all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately.
* Ensures safety of all customers.
* Maintains accurate and precise documentation. Accurately record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record.
* Communicates openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
* Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
* Participates in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, participates in quality and safety initiatives, acting as a department super user, participates in committees related to modality,

department, or facility, participates in educational in-services, and complex care programs.

* Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures

Other Related Functions

* Assist in transporting of patients.
* Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
* Assists in clerical duties, such as, but not limited to, printing reports, scanning documents, and scheduling of patients.
* Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
* Maintains well stocked and organized work areas.
* May be required to work at any Orlando Health facility.
* Assists with other departmental duties and responsibilities as needed.
* May be required to work afterhours and call shifts as needed.
* May be required to assist with contrast administration if pertinent to department.
* May be required to assist with intravenous (IV) insertion and removal for the administration of diagnostic contrast medication if pertinent to department.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Graduate of an accredited school of sonography. Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing

International (CCI) guidelines.

Licensure/Certification

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); and

Registered in Fetal Echocardiography (FE); and/or

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); and

Registered in at least ONE of the following registries: Adult Echo (AE), Fetal Echo (FE) or Pediatric Echo (PE); and/or

Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); and/or

Registered in Pediatric Echo and/or Congenital Echo for APH Cardiology Department; and/or

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); and

Registered in at least ONE of the following registries: Vascular, Phlebology, Neurovascular (through The American Society of Neuroimaging (ASNI)); and/or

Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); and

Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years' experience.

Able to perform routine echocardiology exams including, but not limited to, 2-D and M-Mode Echocardiography and/or vascular sonography exams including, but not limited to, 2-D and M-Mode Imaging, Color Flow and Spectral Doppler, Carotid Ultrasound,

Venous Doppler Upper and Lower Extremities, and Arterial Duplex Upper and Lower Extremities. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.

Education/Training
