Certified Electrocardiography (ECG) Technician

Cardiology

Responsibilities:

* Acquires inpatient and outpatient ECG tracings and routes to cardiologist reading basket.
* Reconciles discrepancies of all ECG's including departmental, hospital wide, and urgent care centers when applicable.
* Application & removal of 24-hr & 48-hr Holter Monitors and Mobile Cardiac Telemetry devices.
* Process, analyze, interprets rhythms and prepares holter monitor report for final interpretation.
* Verifies order & enrolls MCT patients, and then notifies cardiologist of event or urgent episodes.
* Notifies providers of cardiac rhythms outside of normal parameters per policy.
* Educates patients on the use of varies monitor types.
* Performs inpatient cardiac device interrogations & sends report to ordering provider.
* Scan documents into medical records.
* Attends basic cardiac rhythm course.
* Maintains ECG equipment & supplies.
* Assumes professional responsibility, accountability and initiative.
* Active participation in quality monitoring & performance improvement activities.

Requirements:

* HS Diploma / GED required
* ECG certification required
* Maintains CPR via RQI assignments.
* Knowledge of basic cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias is desired.
