Paraprofessional - Jump Start Kindergarten Program


Job Title: Paraprofessional
Reports to: Student Services Director, Principal and Superintendent

Summary: The goal of the Jump Start Kindergarten program is to provide a dedicated kindergarten readiness opportunity to eligible children who will be attending Kindergarten in Fall 2024.
The Jump Start Kindergarten program will operate 4 days per week for 3 hours per day.

Conditions of Employment:
Summer Program: On school days when students are present
Times and Dates: July 15th - August 8th (M, T, W, Th) 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Evidence of High School diploma/equivalent
  • Complete 30 semester hours of college credit at an accredited institution or pass the ETS Parapro Assessment with a 460 minimum passing score (evidence is a copy of your score report) or receive acceptable score on ACT WorkKeys assessments (evidence of passing score must be given) (Requirements per ISBE 73-95)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Must be able to use tact and diplomacy in human relations
  • Background Check/Fingerprinting
  • Physical/TB Test

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with instruction and helping of individual student with special needs, or in small groups, as needed
  • Assist and support teachers to organize learning experiences for student(s)
  • Supervision of students during hallway and bathroom time
  • Under teacher direction and guidance, assist in assessing student needs and progress
  • Adhere to the district's expectations with regards to attendance and punctuality
  • Promote a positive relationship with students, staff and community
  • Help maintain an attractive and inviting classroom environment
  • Perform any task or responsibilities which may be directed by the Teacher, Building Principal, or Student Services Director
