JOB CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Food Service Delivery / Warehouse Worker

DEFINITION: Under direct and general supervision of the Cafeteria Manager, to perform a variety of activities related to receiving, inspecting, processing and storing food, supplies, and equipment in the District Food Service Warehouse; to load delivery vehicle and deliver food daily to designated sites. Return to sites to pick up equipment and return to central kitchen.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

* Pulls items from stock to fill orders for delivery
* Loads a delivery vehicle with a variety of supplies, materials, equipment and food.
* Drives a delivery vehicle to delivery and pickup sites and loads and unloads the delivery vehicle in specified locations.
* Receives, processes and stores warehouse supplies, materials, and equipment.
* Maintains a variety of warehouse and delivery related records.
* Receives and processes delivery acknowledgment receipts.
* Operates a variety of warehouse equipment, including a forklift, and hand truck.
* Assists in conducting warehouse inventory reviews and in maintaining inventory control procedures on a weekly basis.
* Maintains cleanliness and order of walk-in freezers, refrigerator, and warehouse.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

* Methods and procedures pertaining to receiving, processing, storing and distribution of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment and foods.
* Simple record management procedures.
* Safe working and vehicle operational practices.

Ability to:

* Effectively operate a delivery vehicle and participate in receiving, storage, and distribution operation
* Perform routine clerical tasks, and maintain accurate records.
* Perform moderately heavy manual tasks.
* Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
* Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
* Work independently and reliably.
* Maintain orderly work area.
* Work inside walk-in freezer and refrigerator.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out the essential job functions:

* Persons performing this position classification will exert 40 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, reach overhead, or otherwise move objects.
* This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.
* Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, handle and work with various materials and objects.
* Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy conditions caused by the weather may occasionally be experienced.

EXPERIENCE:

* Six months experience operating a mid-size delivery vehicle.
* Experience performing warehouse receiving and storage functions.

EDUCATION:

* High school diploma

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

* Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
* Fingerprint clearance
* TB clearance
