What we want

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology team. The Postdoctoral Research Associate performs investigations related to infectious disease projects. This role focuses on several ongoing projects in host-pathogen interactions related to viruses, phage, tuberculosis, mycobacterial and other respiratory pathogens.

Required Education and Experience:

* Appropriate PhD



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Technical laboratory skills


* Excellent written and verbal communication


* Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others



Preferred Qualifications:

* PhD, D.V.M. and/or M.D


* Record of productive experience in immunology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology of pathogens preferred



Responsibilities:

Research

* Conducts independent research on mycobacterial, viral and other respiratory pathogens, and publication of results


* Designs, develops, and conducts research experiments


* Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques and procedures



Research Data

* Collects, compiles, organizes and analyzes data


* Documents, summarizes, and interprets results


* Maintains experimental records and documentation



Writing

* Participates and assists with the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and publications of scientific data in peer-revised journals based on research



Collaboration

* Attends laboratory meetings and departmental seminars


* Interfaces with collaborators to advance projects


* Participates in projects involving lab personnel


* Performs other duties as assigned.
