Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The incumbent assists and performs duties in the diagnostic imaging department. This person assists technologists during patient procedures, ensures patient safety, closely interacts with physicians, coordinates workflow, transports or requests patients to be transported, and visually observes patients pre and post procedures. This individual will prepare the procedure room, clean equipment, stock supplies, scan documents, and burn images on disks. The technologist aide will receives outpatients, ascertains and communicates their needs and expectations to technical staff, instructs departmental guests appropriately, answers the telephone, takes accurate messages and /or transfers parties to the appropriate area or individual. This individual receives and sends faxed records to authorized parties, regularly checks departmental appointment schedules, and enters patient orders into computer systems, and confirms that all orders match the scheduled examinations.
Radiation and MRI safety will be practiced at all times.
The technologist aide interacts with the hospital and radiology information system, PACS (Picture Archive Communication System) and participates in other clerical activities to ensure smooth work flow. This team member provides appropriate documentation related to the patient's medical record and charges.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Previous medical job experience preferred. Proven customer relation skills. Since the technologist aide has strong visibility with the general public, patients, physicians and other hospital and medical office staff, it is imperative that this person be able to project a cheerful, helpful, respectful, and professional image. Strong organizational skills are required.
