Our School Services Team is currently seeking Behavior Specialists to join our dynamic and growing team

About the Opportunity

The Behavior Specialist works to facilitate educational and behavioral services with children and adults with special needs. The Behavior Specialist collaborates with school professionals and other behavioral specialists to achieve learning and behavioral goals and objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Follows the instructions of the BCBA/program supervisor/teacher
* Provides behavior assistance/interventions to assigned clients
* Performs ABA related teaching strategies
* Provides behavior support services
* Provides crisis intervention
* Review and Implement behavior intervention plans
* Review and implement behavioral goals found within IEPs
* Documents session per policies and procedures
* Collects data accurately and efficiently
* Strictly adhere to confidentiality requirements
* Assist students in the development of independent skills through self-care activities such as toileting, clothing routines and personal hygiene.
* Implement behavior management techniques in accordance with the directions given by the supervising teacher; including reinforcing appropriate behaviors in accordance with the teachers plan and supervising the student during these behavior management techniques
* Additional job duties as assigned

Requirements

About You

Requirements & Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED
* You enjoy working with children and making a difference
* Availability: Monday-Friday, 8:00-3:00 pm (part time or potentially Full Time (30+ hours)
* At least 6 months' experience working with special needs in a school or related setting preferred.
* Current CPR certification preferred
* Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills
* Computer proficiency required
* Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
* Able to travel to and work in multiple program service areas; reliable transportation needed.
* Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; bilingual ability preferred.
* Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.

Physical requirements may include but is not limited to:

* Constant visual stimulation, including close vision, distance vision, reading, computer work
* Constant sitting; frequent up and down out of chair
* Constant use of telephone, speaking, listening
* Constant document handling, use of copier and fax machine, filing
* Frequent typing, use of computer
* Occasional walking around building
* Occasional bending, reaching, stooping, pulling
* Occasional lifting, carrying, moving of items up to 20 pounds
* Occasional walking to, bending to enter, sitting and using upper and lower limbs to drive car
