This position will be involved in the instruction of first and second year college level courses in legal studies (particularly probate law and/or civil litigation) to a diverse student body during daytime, evening, and Saturday classes at our main campus, extension sites and online learning platforms. The Adjunct Faculty member will develop, prepare, and revise instructional materials in paralegal studies for courses they teach. The adjunct faculty member may participate in program evaluation and curriculum planning and development as well as in department, division, and general faculty meetings. They also may serve on division and college committees or participate in other forms of college service.

Required Qualification(s)

* JD with experience as a paralegal or supervising paralegals; OR Master's degree in Legal Studies or a related area AND two (2) years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience over four (4) years) as a paralegal OR an attorney supervising paralegals; OR Bachelor's degree in paralegal or legal studies with at least five (5) years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience over 10 years) as a paralegal in the field relating to course subject matter; OR Bachelor's degree with ABA approved paralegal certificate and five (5) years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience over 10 years) as a paralegal in the field relating to course subject matter

* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Blackboard, and other technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to handle all situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy.

Desired Qualification(s)

* Experience in probate law or civil litigation.
* Bilingual in Spanish and English

1) Prepares and maintains current curriculum, course outlines and printed and non-printed instructional materials. Revises and updates course content as needed.

2) Provides the Division and the students a syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, attendance policies in line with those of the college, texts and readings, timelines and evaluation criteria, and any other information required by College, Division, or departmental policy.

3) Teaches assigned courses in subject field each academic semester. Deliver course content using a variety of teaching styles.

4) Provides instructional support to the students. Refers students, when appropriate, to sources of specialized services within the College. Provides availability for student consultation and assistance via phone, email, and/or in person.

5) Observes and evaluates student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, or examinations. Provides feedback in a timely manner on student progress.

6) Maintains office/discipline/grade/division records as required by the College. Submit all grades (mid/final) electronically prior to the required deadlines. Provide the Registrar appropriate grade and attendance records.

7) Follows the appropriate College policies and procedures to resolve and document student complaints, concerns, and problems.

8) Assists in developing and administering discipline-appropriate measures of student academic achievement, use departmental testing instruments as provided. Administers other instruments designed to measure student learning outcomes as requested and required by the department. Provides all results to department faculty or divisional administrators as requested.

9) Encourages students to submit course evaluations, reviews course evaluations when available and uses feedback to improve course delivery.

10) Participates, when appropriate, in the governance structure, college, division, and department committees.

11) Maintains a high level of professional ethics.

12) Maintains current in compliance training, including compliance under Title IX "Responsible Employee" and, if applicable, Clergy Act Campus Security Authority.

13) Utilizes appropriate technology to deliver instructional materials, maintain grades, and provide timely communications with students, etc.

14) Maintains current knowledge of subject matter via professional organization membership, attendance of seminars, conferences and classes, and professional publications.

15) Demonstrates solid commitment to our Q-DIALS Program and participates with CLC goals and initiatives. Demonstrates the Service Excellence communication method towards customers and ensuring student success is at the forefront of all we do, while building the College's reputation as a premier educational institution.

16) Follows all institution and regulatory policies, procedures, and standards. Utilize self-appraisal to determine progress in meeting performance management system objectives and career goals.

17) Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.
