The Cytology Prep Technician receives cytology specimens using acceptance or rejection criteria, assigns cytology numbers and records gross descriptions. The cytoprep technician utilizes the appropriate cell recovery techniques using the cytology laboratory guidelines and conferring with the cytology supervisor or cytopathologist when needed. The other duties are varied including maintenance of the prep room record keeping, maintaining or preparing materials/ reagents, checking supply inventories, informing the supervisor of prep room needs or problems and accessioning cytology cases when needed.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Experience

1 Year experience with general lab techniques (Preferred)

General Experience and knowledge of medical terminology (Preferred)

License/Certifications

CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
