Summary

Performs Ultrasoundprocedures in accordance with established professional and departmentalstandards and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs all exams within personal licensedscope of practice.
  • Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of ultrasoundequipment and intra operative-procedural imaging.
  • Demonstrates anatomy under investigation throughproper patient positioning and technical factors according to policy andprocedures.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical data forcorrelation with the scans.
  • Demonstrates proficient and economic use ofsupplies, communication equipment, technical equipment, and computertechnologies.
  • Performs visual inspection of sonographyequipment, identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor.
  • Reviews physician orders, checking for specialinstructions from requesting physician, and consults with the radiologist asnecessary.
  • Pleasantly greets patients, confirming theiridentification.
  • Completely explains examination procedure to thepatient. Submits procedures to PACS appropriately.
  • Ability to anticipate and meet the needs andexpectations of customers.
  • Contact the Ultrasound Supervisor/Manager forequipment service issues as appropriate.
  • Personal responsibility/integrity/FinancialResponsibility; each person is responsible for his or her actions andindividually accountable for satisfied patients/customers, confidentiality orpatient and hospital information, quality outcomes, efficient operations, andthe overall success of AVALA.

Professional Requirements
  • Meets dress code standards and adheres topolicy.

  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled,completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while on duty, usescomputerized punch time system correctly.
  • Completes in-services and returns in a timelyfashion.
  • Attends annual review and departmentin-services, as scheduled.
  • Attends staff meetings annually, reads andreturns all monthly staff meeting minutes where applicable.
  • Represents the organization in a positive andprofessional manner.
  • Actively participates in performanceimprovement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policiesregarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals ofthe hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Promotesprofessional growth of subordinates by sharing knowledge and/or directing themto sources if information appropriate to given situation. Utilizes journals,books, etc. to learn and/or improve new techniques and equipment.
  • Assistsother staff members in performing any duty that enhances the delivery ofpatient care.

Regulatory Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic MedicalSonography Program.
  • Current ADMS, with registry in either Abdomen(AB), Breast (BR), Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN).Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT/RVS) preferred.
  • Current BLS certification or able to obtainwithin 30 days of hire.
  • Two years' experience as a Sonographer required.

Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English,both verbally and in writing.
  • Basiccomputer knowledge.

Physical Demands

Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talkand hear. This position is very active and requires repetitive motions,standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee mustfrequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
