SUMMARY: Works closely with management to orchestrate and execute the safe movement of fleet vehicles within the yard. Maintains accurate vehicle maintenance records, checks fuel levels in addition to tracking inventory, verifying loadout orders and completing daily reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.
  • Operate yard truck to move trailers to and from dock.
  • Record seal numbers on all trucks and trailers after they are loaded.
  • Provide supervisor with list of all seal numbers at the end of the day.
  • Report all accidents immediately to supervisor.
  • Complete accident reports for insurance carrier.
  • Monitor company issued radio at all times during shift; return radio to battery charger at the end of each day.
  • Monitor and adjust refrigerated trailer temperature settings per specific load requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Willing to work overtime and weekends occasionally. Knowledgeable on performing pre- and post-trip inspections.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS;

Valid driver's license required. CDL is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must regularly operate a truck. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather, moving equipment and significantly varying temperatures.
  • Employee may have exposure to fumes and odors of grease, oil, gas and engine exhaust.
