Job Description

Job Summary:

Assists physician in providing patient examinations, procedures and orthopedic procedures. Assists physician in cleansing wounds, assists in reducing fractures, pin insertions and applications of surgical dressing.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant (MA): Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Orthopedic Technician certification: Preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Preferred
  • Surgical Technician certification: Preferred

Essential Functions:
  • Assists the physician/surgeon with tasks related to bracing, splinting and casting and other procedures as needed. Responds to emergencies and other STAT requests.
  • Performs clerical duties. Consults with provider concerning procedures and patient condition.
  • Applies, removes and adjusts orthopedic devices (i.e. splints, casts, bandages and slings) under physician supervision/instruction.
  • Assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
