RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Performs both cardiac and vascular ultrasound testing to include 2D echo/Doppler, dobutamine stress, exercise stress, and multiple vascular procedures including carotids, arterials, venous duplex, aorta, and renal artery duplex, as well as other related duties assigned by manager, supervisor or lead sonographer. Qualified individual is able to provide cardiac and vascular ultrasound to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population and provide all necessary documentation and preliminary interpretation of results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs patient evaluations to include; verifying patient identity, reviewing the patients chart for orders and prior studies and addressing patient questions and concerns.

2. Performs echocardiograms, Doppler, dobutamine, stress echo or vascular studies according to protocols. Appropriately utilizes contrast when necessary and provides adequate documentation.

3. Completes documentation in chart and generates accurate preliminary report for physician interpretation in PACS system.

4. Maintains safety and cleanliness of room and equipment according to infection control policy and equipment cleaning policy. Shares responsibility of restocking supplies and notifying supervisor of needs. Reports any equipment safety or maintenance issues immediately to supervisor.

5. Assists accreditation coordinator in data collection and provides required studies for submission to maintain accreditation. Attends a minimum of 50% of quarterly quality improvement meetings.

6. Provides staffing throughout PHI office based imaging labs as needed. Rotates to various sites to provide adequate staff coverage. Follows site specific daily flow as needed.

7. Acquires and maintains training and competency in electronic health record system as required to perform duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate of registry approved ultrasound course or equivalent experience according to Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography (ICAEL) and Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Two (2) years of experience in each modality.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

Must be credentialed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in at least one modality at time of hire and become registered in second modality within 12 months of hire date.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess current status in registry and maintain own continuing education requirements of credentialing entity as well as those of ICAEL and ICAVL. Three years in existing credentialed specialty.
