Soda Creek Elementary is seeking Preschool Paraprofessional to assist in the classroom and provide support for the preschool for the 24-25 school year.

Pay and schedule:
Entry pay range: $21.61 - $23.73, depending on experience.
Seeking full time or part time schedule to be dicussed at interview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Lead Teacher with classroom preparation and management at the beginning and end of each day as well as the beginning and end of the school year (organizing supplies, cleaning tables and equipment as needed, etc.)
  • Assist with student/classroom management, projects, curriculum implementation and student support as assigned by Lead Teacher
  • Plan unit themes and help prepare materials for all projects; Create and prepare bulletin boards in classroom to support themes
  • Work with small group instruction in the classroom
  • Assist students in the use of classroom technology
  • Maintain physical order of the classroom; maintain discipline of groups of students
  • Assess students three (3) times throughout the school year in preparation for Parent-Teacher conferences
  • Carry out ongoing Parent-Teacher communication through the use of emails, newsletters, and face-to-face dialog
  • Maintain current and accurate records on all students
  • Implement individual behavior plan as necessary, support with special education identified students with IEP plans
  • Support, implement, and document objectives for Teaching Strategies GOLD
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Preferred Associate's Degree in ECE or minimum of 15 completed semester credits in ECE at an accredited college or university
  • Experience in teaching young children
  • Ability to work cooperatively on a team with other professionals
  • Adequate mobility to perform the following tasks: restrain students, catching running students, lift moving objects
  • Possess sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform responsibilities as described
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, staff, co-workers, administrators and parents
  • Proficiency in clerical, secretarial and computer skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Decision Making: An example of a typical decision made by an individual in this position is to interpret policies/procedures and best practice. An incorrect decision made by this position could impact the district legally causing financial condition of district to be affected. Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage the credibility of the District.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and Board of Education.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.

Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.

Other Skills And Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift items weighing 50 pounds from floor level to an elevation of four feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
