Position Summary:

Career Services is looking for people to join the team As an outreach assistant, you will learn to develop and deliver life and career design workshops, teach people to hack job descriptions and write tailored resumes, seek out new job and internship opportunities, and develop your own career strategy in the process. You will also learn and help deliver a Stanford University-designed Life Design curriculum.

Job Responsibilities:

* Assist in developing and delivering life and career design workshops, empowering individuals to navigate their career journeys effectively.
* Teach resume crafting techniques and job search strategies, helping individuals tailor their applications for success.
* Actively seek out new job and internship opportunities, connecting students with valuable resources and opportunities.
* Contribute to the delivery of the Stanford University-designed Life Design curriculum, fostering personal and professional growth among participants.

Job Qualifications:

* Basic computer skills are essential, along with a strong sense of curiosity and a desire to make a positive impact.
* Graphic design skills are a plus, enhancing your ability to create engaging workshop materials and promotional content.
* Public speaking skills are a bonus to confidently communicate ideas effectively.
* Enthusiasm and reliability are the keys to success in this role.
* Training will be provided for all other necessary skills, ensuring you're equipped to excel in your responsibilities.

Location: Career Services Office, within the Argiro Student Lounge

Supervisor: Dylene Cymraes, Career Services Director

Dylene is a storyteller, university instructor, author, communication facilitator, and catalyst. She came to MIU in 2016 for the BFA program in Creative and Professional Writing and then proceeded to East Tennessee University for a master's in Communication and Storytelling Studies, after which MIU invited her return in 2022 to be a professor of Writing and Literature. Now, as the Director of Career Services, she loves providing support to students in designing their career path and writing the story of their lives, cultivating conversation and providing guidance that stitches the school curriculum together. Amongst her many passions, she is currently working on MIU's internship program and supporting the FWS Program, as well.
