Job Title: CT Technologist

Department: Diagnostic Imaging

Hours: 28 hours

Shift: 3rd

Daily hours: 8

Weekends: As needed

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the radiologist, DI Administration and/or Lead CT Technologist, performs professional duties which involve a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for CT scans. Assist physicians in selection of practical application and technical factors.

ESSENTIALS RESPONSIBILITIES

* Performs a variety of CT exams related to the field, including invasive procedures and IV insertion.
* Explain the procedure to the patient.
* Set, adjust, manipulate, control and maintain a variety of complex electronic equipment to apply ionizing radiation to patients for diagnosis of disease.
* Administer prescribed contrast media according to established guidelines.
* Assist in interventional CT exams.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

* Computer skills: Mainframe system entry, Teleradiology system.
* High degree of technical aptitude with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

* Completed two years of an approved Radiological Technology Program required.
* Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists required.
* A current license in the State of Connecticut is required.
* CT Registered and hold a current State of Connecticut CT License.
* Maintaining appropriate CEU's to meet ARRT guidelines is required.
* CPR - Current AHA Healthcare Provider Certification / equivalent within 3 months of hire is required.

EXPERIENCE

* Approved contrast injection training according to the D.I. Medical Director is required.
* Minimum of 1 year practical experience performing related duties as a CT technologist including IV insertion is preferred.
