PORTIA BELL HUME BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND TRAINING CENTER (aka The Hume Center) has a rewarding opportunity for a qualified Mental Health Clinician under the leadership of The Hume Center's Director of Clinical Programs. This is an exciting opportunity to help our organization to grow by continuing to develop this department.

MISSION: The Hume Center strives to create an environment of psychological well-being both internally for our work community and externally for the community we serve, with special consideration for the under- and un-served, through practicing an enabling consultation process. We believe in serving our community through strengthening existing and developing new resources; providing the highest caliber of culturally sensitive behavioral health services, professional training, and clinical research; and focusing on consistent improvement through outcomes, data-based quality assurance, and program evaluation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifying Performance:
  1. Has been meeting the "Above Average Performance" as an AMHC set by the Standard Weekly Assignment for at least the last 6 months (e.g. if an AMHC is expected to bill at a rate of 55% of their working time to be considered an "Average Performer" and 68% to be considered an "Above Average Performer", the MHC would be expected to bill at 68% which is of the total working hours and corresponds to 80% of the hours allocated to provide client services)
  2. Fulfill a caseload assignment based on client need for services, proactively maintain a caseload to meet the expectation of #1 within the flexibility of phasing intervention frequency based on clients' behavioral health necessity and applicable treatment goals
  3. Has had no verbal warnings or had been placed on a PIP in the past 6 months
  4. Averaged 3's or higher on their most recent performance review
  5. Turning in all documentation on time
  6. Has been with The Hume Center for 1 year in a Clinician position


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  1. Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or Social Work.
  2. Registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences OR Licensed with the Board of Psychology.
  3. One-year clinical experience providing psychological services.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of community resources strongly preferred.
  5. Experience providing psychotherapy with culturally, socio economically and ethnically diverse populations.
  6. Training in Mental Health Consultation (Preferred).
  7. Must be willing to work full-time/part-time and be present at the Hume Center.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  9. Possess a valid California Driver's license. Must be willing to use own vehicle and valid car insurance for work related travel.
  10. Be willing to use own cell phone to be accessible and willing to be available to receive calls for crisis and/or emergency situations.
  11. Proficient and experienced providing services in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi, Farsi/Dari preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Expected to maintain a caseload and weekly billable hours consistent with the performance of an "Average Performer" as an MHC set by the Standard Weekly Assignment on an ongoing basis (e.g. the MHC would be expected to bill at 68% which is of the total working hours and corresponds to 80% of the hours allocated to provide client services)

  3. Continues to average 3's or higher on performance reviews.
  4. Provide comprehensive clinical services in service program(s), included, but not limited to, intake, assessment, therapy, case management, crisis intervention, consultation.
  5. Complete initial screening, gather information for assessment and triage clients by coordinating services with therapists.
  6. Develop treatment plans for each client clearly identifying goals, objectives, service needs and methods of intervention.
  7. Schedule and attend regular appointments with clients in Hume Center offices, homes, and community settings to assist client's progress in successfully accomplishing goals.
  8. Make contact with, and include as appropriate, parent, family, caseworkers and other collateral contracts.
  9. Collaborate and/or consult with 3rd parties in client cases.
  10. Maintain on-going contact with client and service providers in order to monitor service delivery, client progress, and assess additional needs.
  11. Collaborate closely with service providers in coordinating service delivery.
  12. Facilitate support/therapy groups.
  13. Provide mental health consultation.
  14. Identify community resources and establish effective collaborative relationships with liaisons in the community.
  15. Assist client in how to effectively navigate and link to community systems.
  16. Attend weekly staff meetings, trainings, group and individual supervision.
  17. Maintain client case records, and document activities as required by agency, funding source, and contract requirements.
  18. Complete case records, including intakes, clinical assessments, treatment plans, clinical progress notes, discharge/transfer summaries, and other documentation in a timely manner
  19. Meet minimum service/billable hours as set by the Hume Center
  20. Participate in Trainee Recruitment, as needed.
  21. Present and/or Facilitate Program Orientation, Didactic and Training meetings.
