San Francisco, United States GLIDE Full time
Glide FYCC Preschool, nestled within the Janice Mirikitani Family, Youth and Childcare Center (FYCC), invites passionate and dedicated individuals to apply for the position of Preschool Teacher. Since its inception in 1999, FYCC has been at the forefront of providing comprehensive support to children from low-income households. Our mission is to create a nurturing and culturally diverse environment where every child can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Join our team as a Lead Teacher, where you'll craft and execute engaging activities tailored to the developmental stages of toddlers and preschoolers. Your role entails addressing their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs while ensuring adherence to safety regulations set by the CA Community Care Licensing Department of Social Services. Collaborating closely with the Program Manager and peers, you'll cultivate an enriching environment conducive to every child's learning journey.

We seek compassionate early childhood educators with a profound love for nurturing young minds aged 18 months to 5 years. Ideal candidates are dedicated to advancing the early teaching profession, driven by a genuine passion for making a positive impact on children and families. If you're committed to delivering top-tier care and education to our youngest learners, we invite you to apply and be a part of our mission.

Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Activity Planning and Implementation: Design and execute developmentally appropriate activities that cater to the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of young children. This includes organizing engaging play-based learning experiences, circle time activities, and art projects.
    • Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and guidelines mandated by the CA Community Care Licensing Department of Social Services. This involves maintaining a safe and clean environment, conducting regular safety inspections, and implementing emergency procedures when necessary.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Program Manager and fellow educators to create a cohesive and stimulating learning environment. Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate activities, share insights, and address any concerns regarding children's development or well-being.
    • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and developmental milestones. Complete necessary paperwork and documentation as required by licensing authorities and organizational policies.
    • Parental Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians by providing regular updates on their child's progress, discussing developmental goals, and addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Encourage parental involvement in children's learning activities and events.
    • Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends and best practices in early childhood education. Participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge as an early childhood educator.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Resource Support: Offer helpful resources and support to staff and caregivers to aid their professional growth and enhance classroom effectiveness. Whether it's sharing tips on effective teaching strategies or providing materials for engaging activities, your support will contribute to a positive learning environment.
    • Training Assistance and Collaboration: Assist in training new staff members and ensure everyone is familiar with our standards and practices. By working together and sharing experiences, we'll maintain consistency and uphold our commitment to excellence.
    • Feedback and Goal Setting: Provide regular feedback to staff, helping them identify areas for growth and supporting them in setting achievable goals. Through constructive dialogue and encouragement, we'll help each other succeed.
    • Coaching and Encouragement: Act as a mentor to staff, offering guidance and encouragement as they navigate their roles. Your positive approach will inspire confidence and foster a supportive team dynamic.
    • Problem-Solving Together: Collaborate with staff to address concerns and find solutions in line with our organization's values and procedures. By working together with empathy and respect, we'll overcome challenges and create a harmonious work environment.

When it comes to qualifications for this role, we're looking for someone who:
    • Utilizes Diverse Teaching Methods: Demonstrates knowledge of learning strategies and can adapt teaching approaches for both children and adults. You're not just a teacher; you're a versatile leader who can inspire learning through various methods.
    • Visionary Leadership: You're a leader with a clear vision, striving for excellence and maintaining high standards. Your keen observational and analytical skills enable you to identify challenges and offer innovative solutions.
    • Organizational and Planning Skills: You excel in organization and planning, ensuring smooth operations and effective implementation of educational activities.
    • Interpersonal Proficiency: Your interpersonal skills are top-notch, allowing you to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and others involved in our educational community.
    • Sound Judgment and Collaboration: You exercise sound judgment in your interactions and know when to seek assistance or advice. Collaboration is key, and you're adept at working with others to achieve shared goals.
    • Professionalism and Sensitivity: You consistently demonstrate professionalism, patience, and sensitivity in your interactions. Your ability to exercise tact and maintain confidentiality is crucial in creating a safe and respectful environment.
    • Cultural Humility and Diversity Commitment: You embody cultural humility and show a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion. Working effectively across cultures and respecting differences is integral to your approach.
    • Alignment with Organizational Mission: You are deeply committed to our mission, values, and philosophy at GLIDE. Your dedication to our cause drives your work and inspires others to uphold our shared principles.
