The County of Volusia is seeking a Maintenance Worker for the Ocean Center. This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and will be responsible for housekeeping and janitorial services.

Note: This is a contracted position. The selected candidate will be employed through a third-party vendor and not eligible for County offered benefits. Candidate must be willing to work outside normal working hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Illustrative Duties

(NOTE:These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.)

* Moves and aids in moving furniture or equipment and large and bulky objects.
* Performs scheduled housekeeping duties throughout the facility and area grounds.
* Keeps restrooms and dressing rooms supplied with necessary papers, soaps, and towels.
* Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and general areas throughout facility.
* Stock and arrange janitorial closets.
* Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
* Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
* Performs other duties as required.

High School diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education (or training) and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Having met the minimum requirements the preferred candidate will have at least one (1) year of experience with janitorial services

* Able to perform routine unskilled manual work.
* Able to read and write English.
* Able to follow oral instructions.
* Able to work under stressful situations.
* Able to interact effectively with others.
* Must be able to relocate to other county locations based on operational needs.

ADA REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Demands: Able to see, talk, and hear. Visual acuity to operate forklifts and other machines. Peripheral vision. Able to pull, push, lift, carry 50 pounds, grasp, handle, climb, balance, reach overhead, bend, stoop. Able to traverse uneven, wet or broken terrain.

Environmental Demands: Generally inside work. Must be able to tolerate inclement weather including but not limited to heat, humidity, wind, cold. May require exposure to chemicals, dust, insects, noise, fumes and confined areas.

Mental Demands: Able to read and comprehend safety instructions, procedures, memos, and written directions. Able to write simple sentences relaying information. Able to perform basic math such as addition and subtraction.p a conclusion. Ability to express ideas and relay information.
