Position Summary

Works under the medical supervision of a physician to perform as a nurse and also provide supervision for clinical and clerical employees in the Sexual Health Clinic.

Pay Grade: 55

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Minimum Qualifications

100% -

1. Three (3) years of nursing experience in a lead or supervisory capacity; AND

2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing; OR

3. One (1) year of nursing experience in a lead or supervisory capacity; AND

4. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing; OR

5. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

6. PROOF OF EDUCATION TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervises all assigned clinical and clerical Sexual Health Clinic employees.

2. Triages, conducts physical assessments, and facilitates appropriate diagnostic procedures on clients as needed, in accordance with protocol.

3. Develops and provides oversight for work assignments.

4. Participates in the clinical training of nurses in specialized training programs, serves as preceptor to new nursing staff, and participates in staff education programs for other public health nurses and practitioners.

5. Assembles information and prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.

6. Documents and maintains medical records and reports.

7. Determines work procedures.

8. Participates in developing and implementing special programs within the department.

9. Serves as resource personnel for clinic staff and field operations.

10. Serves as Infection Control Committee member and program trainer.

11. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSAs -

1. Knowledge of supervision and personnel management practices and techniques.

2. Knowledge of the activities supervised.

3. Knowledge of the principles of nursing and ability to function independently in a clinical setting.

4. Knowledge of social and economic forces affecting the health of people and of family and group relationships, and the aims and purposes of local health departments.

5. Ability to provide budgetary oversight for a clinical program.

6. Ability to coordinate and direct the activities of assigned personnel in the clinic.

7. Ability to collaborate and lead others in the improvement of health care.

8. Ability to manage and lead the team.

Special Requirements

1. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license or secure one upon date of employment.

2. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet county requirements for automobile insurance upon the date of employment.

3. May be required to work extended hours, including weekends, and available to work on-call during an event.

4. Must possess a current State of Tennessee Nursing License.

5. Must maintain all required certifications and licenses throughout the duration of employment.

This position is eligible for a HIRING BONUS outlined below:

1st payment of $1,500 paid after completion of six (6) months of service,

2nd payment of $1,500 paid after completion of twelve (12) months of service,

3rd payment of $2,000 paid after completion of eighteen (18) months of service.
