Job Title: Graduate Assistant - Client Support

Reports To: Training and Support Manager

Job Type: This is a part time, exempt position.

General Description:

The Client Support Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting with consulting, technical support, and problem tracking services to clients/end users. Work assignments involve assisting with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of diverse software applications and hardware systems being used by clients. Work is performed by phone, remote connection, and in person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Actively work as part of the Helpdesk by logging, monitoring, resolving, and closing work orders.
* Work with end users to resolve work orders.
* Assist with identification of security issues.
* Assist in ensuring hardware, software, and peripherals are properly configured and fully operational.
* Perform standard preventative maintenance as assigned.
* Troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
* Assist with classroom and lab hardware deployment and updates.
* Serve as first contact telephone support for faculty, staff, and students.
* Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

* Must possess a bachelor's degree and be enrolled in a master's program at WWU.
* Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Ability to work productively in a structured high-paced, team environment.
* Ability to work independently, while meeting well-defined deadlines.
* Ability to explain technical issues clearly.
* Understanding of Windows and Mac operating systems.
* Understanding of software installations.

Typical Physical Demands:

* Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day.
* Ability to crouch, kneel, bend or stand for long periods.
* Ability to speak and read English fluently.
* Ability to hear.
* Ability to use a computer keyboard.
* Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in office and on campus.
* Must possess a valid driver's license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy.

Work Schedule:

Graduate assistants work an average of 25 hours per week. Compensation includes room, full tuition in a master's program, and board when the campus dining facility is open.
