GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Memory Care Director (MCD) position promotes the Watercrest Memory Care mission and philosophy. The MCD is responsible for providing overall leadership and management to the Memory Care team. The MCD will plan, organize, and lead the overall operations of the Watercrest Memory Care Program. The MCD will provide direct and indirect care to residents in a sensitive, professional, and effective manner. The Memory Care Director is responsible for maintaining compliance with all state and federal regulations while utilizing the standards of care policies and procedures. The MCD is responsible for overseeing compliance in accordance with company policy and procedures, federal, state, and local laws.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Servant Leadership directs all aspects of decision making
* Promote the company's memory care philosophy and adhere to the associated standards.
* Contributes to all aspects of medication management, including but not limited to; orders, administration, storage, documentation. compliance and as mandated by the State Regulations and Guidelines as well as Company policy and procedure
* Assure that all resident care specialists are familiar with the residents' individual conditions and are trained to provide the resident services in an effective, professional and sensitive manner
* Provide supervision, training, coaching, and associated talent management processes with Memory Care team members in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines. This may include payroll, scheduling, and associated functions.
* Lead, plan, organize and oversee high-quality memory care activities throughout the day creating an engaging community for residents to call home.
* Develop and oversee resident engagement calendar.
* Partner with programming and other community team members to plan and develop programs for the Memory Care residents
* Participate in resident assessments specifically contributing to the areas the physical, mental, social, emotional and functional condition/capabilities of all residents in Memory Care.
* Communicate resident care needs or changes in condition with Resident Wellness Director, responsible party, physicians and other healthcare providers.
* Assist with maintaining resident charts as required by state and federal regulations.
* Conducts assessments of resident's needs - at admission, at regularly scheduled intervals, and as needed.
* Responsible for department budget and expenses.
* Maintain current knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia topics.
* Participate in community meetings and events.
* Respond in a timely manner to requests of residents, families and guests
* Assist with covering shifts due to call offs, vacations, etc.
* Assist with ordering supplies as needed
* Provide on call coverage every other weekend as assigned
* Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, guests, vendors, referral sources, and outside contacts.
* Able to manage revenue and expense budget.
* Able to make independent decisions.
* Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner.
* Must be familiar with and adhere to guidelines related to the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
* Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens.
* Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
* LPN or RN license
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* Minimum of 3 years experience in senior living preferably in a Memory Care environment.
* Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 2 years' experience in supervising and management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
* Able to stand or walk 75% of the day.
* Able to drive the community bus.
* Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions.
* Able to work under stress and in emergency situations.
* Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping.
* Able to speak and hear effectively to convey instructions and information to residents and team members.
* Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
* Work in all areas of the community.
* Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and other conditions.
* Use personal protective equipment and supplies when needed to prevent burns, falls, and infection.
* Personal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves, and non-slip shoes.
* Subject to infectious diseases, substances, and odors.
* Follow Safety Policy & Procedures.
* must be LPN, Dementia certified a plus, in weekend rotation for manager on duty
