Job Summary

The MRI Technologist per diem will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with the acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of MRI images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the MRI area. *Per Diem Shift Saturday Mandatory*

Clinical Duties
  • Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
  • Perform MRIs and general radiological procedures:
    • Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologist's discretion, the referring physician.
    • Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
    • Observe patient while in the MRI area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
    • Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
    • Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
    • Administer contrast media via appropriate peripheral IV access as ordered and directed.
  • Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalency.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  • NYS License, ARRT certified. MRI Registry eligible.
  • New York BLS certified.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to de-escalate stressful situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population demonstrating tact, respect, and sensitivity.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, adaption to change, and ability to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
  • Must be an engaged team member demonstrating collaboration, inclusion, reliability, punctuality, and adaptability to new and changing situations.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
  • Must be a motivated individual with a positive mindset and exceptional work ethic.
  • Will provide coverage as requested throughout practices as needed (multiple sites and flexible schedule including weekends).

Hourly Rate Ranges: $54.50 - $69.14

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
