  • Position Summary
    • The Surgical Technologist provides limited direct patient care under the supervision of the RN. Activities include handling instruments, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures, understanding of procedure being performed and anticipating needs of surgeon, maintaining the sterile field, clean and prepare instruments for disinfection and sterilization, assist other members with room turnover and cleaning.
  • Education and Experience Requirements

    • EDUCATION:
      • Required:
        • Graduate of accredited surgical technology program or LPN program
      • Preferred:
    • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

      • Required:
        • BLS
        • Certification of Surgical Technology or LPN Licensure in the State of Iowa
      • Preferred:
    • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Required:
        • Basic knowledge and understanding of surgical principles and practice
        • Ability to take appropriate action in response to changes, problems, emergency situations
        • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions
        • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills
        • Basic computer knowledge
        • Excellent customer service skills
        • Ability to be flexible and demonstrate accountability
      • Preferred:
        • One year of surgical experience
  • Essential Job Functions

    • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in time management, resources and use of supplies.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.
